I stumbled upon an Italian artist, Gehard Demetz, who produces exquisite sculptures solely out of wood. From what I have seen of his work, a lot of his themes revolve around the subject of youth; he has created portraits of Kennedy, Mao, and even Hitler as children. His work balances beautiful and haunting incredibly well and I do not quite know how to feel when looking at them. He has had exhibitions consistently in Italy and New York over the past few years, and I for one am keeping my fingers crossed that a London exhibition is not long to follow.
