This is something Pixar seem to have embraced. As I got older it seemed to happen less and less. As the ratings of the films I went to see went up the likelihood of a light-hearted animation to entice the audience went down. That was until the revival of the animated title sequence!

Below I have listed a bunch of title sequences that I feel are just simply great.

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang 2005

You have to check out more work of Danny Yount, he works at Prologue Films and is definitely the man of the hour. He has worked on films like Iron man 1 + 2, Sherlock Holmes, The Book Of Eli, and series Six feat under, The Sopranos, Pushing Daisies. By ‘man of the hour’ I mean his pretty hot right now, but his momentum doesn’t look to be slowing down any time soon.

Hope you enjoyed that! For more amazing title sequences you have to check out Watch The Titles – it is packed with great content.

The theme and medium makes for a very unique exhibition, many of the art being expressive and free of constraints. There was around 700 pieces in the exhibition, most of it in boxes which you have to thumb through. The exhibition is only running for a short period, it finishes on the 5th August 2010. So for those who can, I really recommend going to see it.

1.	Pepsi
This boring and pointless re-vamp surely puts Pepsi on the top of our pile. The old logo was a classic, a true icon of our times and to see it go for something as uninspired as this is a real shame.

2.	London 2012
Okay, so this isn’t really a re-vamp; but even by past Olympic Logo standards this was a disgrace. Mad vibrant colours and flashy graphics in the video that can bring on epileptic fits is an embarrassment. I don’t understand why they don’t just use the rings with a nice bit of type below/above? They are beautiful and classic.

3.	Currys
Hmmm. What happened here? Bad colour choices to put it mildly. I understand that they were trying to portray a more up-market image, whilst keeping the red colour of the old logo. But in the end it clashes and doesn’t work.

4.	Hilton Worldwide
Those gold and silver bevels are so old fashioned. Are we going back to the nineties? It’s a real shame; I feel that the designers missed a great opportunity to create something great here, for a global brand. The balance of the new logo isn’t fantastic either.

5.	Kraft
Again, what was wrong with the old logo? Not much, really. It works really well at small sizes, ideal for food packaging. The new logo is in no way, shape or form an improvement. The weird flower icon is badly executed beyond belief.

6.	Capital One
Why add that swoosh? Does it add anything substantial to the logo? And if you’re going to add something as crummy as that, at least make it look good.

7.	Compaq
I’m not sure if this is an improvement or not. The old typeface is stronger and I particularly like the work done on the letter ‘Q’. The new letter ‘Q’ barely resembles a ‘Q’ at all…the jury is still out on this one.

8.	Animal Planet
It wasn’t hard to improve the old logo. That globe is horrible, but at least it had relevance I guess. The new logo is just strange. Why is the ‘M’ to the side and a different colour? Is it supposed to resemble something? ‘Coz I don’t get it. I hate the squeezed letters ‘A’ and ‘N’ too.

9.	DC Comics
This might be a little controversial and there may be many that don’t agree with me here. Although the new DC logo isn’t bad (actually it is quite attractive), the old logo was great. It was a classic that inspired many other circular logos over the years. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

10.	MSN
I have a mixed opinion on this re-vamp. Nice new butterfly, and I prefer the grey type to the blue despite the blue being bolder. But the font choice on the new logo is horrible! So it makes it to number 10 on our list.

The Digital Economy Bill has entered the ‘wash up’ stage, with the MP taking the ‘Shoot first, ask questions later’ approach. Opting to pass the bill with all it’s flaws and amend it later. Knowing our government, this approach isn’t filling me with reassurance.

I seem to remember when the congestion charge was introduced as an experiment; when figures came back showing that it had made no difference what so ever, instead of admitting they were wrong, they increased it’s circumference. So once the money starts rolling in from all the extra charges that we will incur, I really doubt amendments will be made.

It does however seem that people’s concern have gotten through to our MPs. It has gotten a lot of media coverage online, but the lack of effort made by MPs to even show up for the crucial debate (see picture above) shows they really just don’t care.
