Premae Skincare Launched

We are proud to announce the launch of PremaeSkincare.com. Over the last month we have been working hard alongside Clare Eluka (C.E.O and Founder of Premae Skincare) to build their online sales platform and create their product packaging designs.

Clare is a advocate for allergen free, eco friendly products and ethical principles in business. Premae is the world’s first totally allergen free beauty brand. She has spent much time in the area of research and development in order to discover how to create her comprehensive cleansing and moisturising system. What makes the Premae product range so special is that they are made with only 100% natural allergen free ingredients.

Looking for something special this Christmas for a loved one?  PremaeSkincare.com

Dinner with Boris

On Monday the 31st of October, I was invited and attended a dinner with Boris Johnson – our Mayor of London. He was introduced by our local MP Mr David Burrowes and about 200 other guests also attended the event.

The renowned Boris Johnson gave us a great and personal speech regarding all of the things he has been successfully fighting for and the current issues his office is working on. I do like Boris, as well as being an honest public speaker (I say honest because his speeches are not pre-written by a team of swing artists but rather passionate, off the cuff and entertaining ramblings) but also because of his passion towards driving progress for London. He is an environmentalist, an intellectual and a strong believer in building up the strength of London on the world stage. Don’t get me wrong, not every plan Boris has pushed forward has been a raving success but the point is he not scared to try new things and bringing new ideas to the table.

He said to us that we can be expecting the new eco-friendly Routemaster bus to start appearing on the roads very soon. The new Routemaster is built by Londoners for Londoners and will support job creation and in turn the London Economy. Most of all the new bus will be quieter, safer, more comfortable and much more environmentally friendly then the now obsolete bendy bus. The new bus is at the forefront of cutting edge technology and design and will serve as fantastic replacement. In terms of design, the new bus pays homage to the original and much loved Routemaster which has stood as a beloved icon for London and Londoners for so many generations.

Responsibility for the Environment as well as encouraging growth for the London economy is something we at Offset Media hold very close to our hearts. As well as the new Routemaster bus, Boris and his office are fighting for further advancements to transport and business in London. Also look out for plans of a new orbital over ground network which will connect up the whole of London and offer better connections to our airports.

Take your top off!

Whilst browsing the web for nice bottle recycling logos for a packaging design project, I came across a fantastic blog by Glenda Duarte.

The blog was created in order to raise public awareness of recycling bottle tops and caps whilst studying for her MA at London College of Communication. Her campaign explores some fantastic communication mediums and digital media, including a campaign video, stickers, posters, blog and leaflets.

The urgency of recycling bottle tops and caps can be understood when you examine the stomach contents of our marine wildlife. We now have a very real problem with plastic pollution infesting our worlds oceans. Please remember to recycle your bottle tops separately, as these will end up in land fills or in our oceans. More information about how you can recycle bottle tops and caps can be found here.

The Secret Power of Time Animation

I have just stumbled across a wonderful animation. It is by The RSA based on a talk given by Professor Philip Zimbardo. It is such an engaging and well executed short. Enjoy!

Haiti Earthquake disaster (£2000 raised)

In aid of the Haiti Earthquake disaster on the 6/03/2010 Offset Media walked with fellow fund raisers. We walked the Piccadilly line in London, from Heathrow all the way to Cockfosters tube station hitting every station on the way. It was a 36 mile hike through London end to end and It wasn’t easy.

We reached our target of £1000 two days before our walk and thank you to everyone who has helped us to get there, but that’s no reason for the donations to stop! The more donations we receive the bigger the difference we can make!

Please sponsor us and give to the Disaster Emergency Committee who will provide food, clean water, medical support and other essential supplies to the victims of the earthquake.

It really does put into perspective what these people go through even on a daily basis when they have been hit by natural disasters, are under the global poverty line or struggle in a war torn country. We walked because we wanted to. They walk because they have no choice, on an empty stomach with no water and sometimes… for days. Every time we walk somewhere we will think of 6/03/2010 and the reasons behind it.

Wood!

Every festive season Hyde Park plays host to the Winter Wonderland. Though I cannot speak highly of the event itself, I did stumble across something whilst I was there that I thought was just amazing, a wooden tie! More recently I stumbled (via furbiz) across something even more impressive, wooden carpets!

Created by Elisa Stroyzk, they look absolutely beautiful. The geometric pattern compliments the wood’s natural texture perfectly. They are lush and make a simple rug ridiculously interesting again.

Nowadays, wood seems to be the material of choice for contemporary designers (perhaps to contrast the walls of technology that we have built around ourselves) with so many objects being made from it; such as the wooden usb stick, the wooden digital clock and my personal favourite implementation of wood – sitting a massive tree branch in a corner of your home…like so.

*Update – Look more wooden things! Shwood Eyeware!

E-Waste

Here is a great little video I found via Joy Engine about e-waste. Now, pay attention.
